What is an Innovator Founder Visa?

The Innovator Founder Visa is designed for entrepreneurs who want to establish and run an innovative business in the UK. Unlike other business visas, this route focuses on applicants with a viable, scalable, and original business idea that is endorsed by an approved endorsing body.

This visa replaced the previous Innovator Visa and offers greater flexibility for business owners who wish to grow their company in the UK.

Who Can Apply?

You may be eligible for an Innovator Founder Visa if:

  • You have an innovative business idea that is different from anything currently on the UK market.
  • Your business idea is viable and has potential for growth.
  • You have obtained an endorsement from an approved UK endorsing body.
  • You can demonstrate sufficient English language ability (B2 level CEFR).
  • You have enough personal savings to support yourself while in the UK.

Key Benefits of the Innovator Founder Visa

  • You do not need a minimum investment fund requirement, unlike the old Innovator Visa.
  • You can work full-time for your own business.
  • You may bring your family members (spouse/partner and children under 18).
  • You can apply to settle in the UK (Indefinite Leave to Remain) after 3 years, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

Requirements and Endorsement

Applicants must secure an endorsement that confirms:

  • The business idea is innovative, offering a genuine and original product or service.
  • The business is viable, with realistic goals and a solid plan.
  • The business is scalable, with potential for growth in both UK and international markets.

Endorsements are reviewed regularly, and visa holders must show progress in their business during their stay.

Length of Stay and Extensions

  • The visa is granted for 3 years initially.
  • You may extend your visa or switch to settlement if your business meets ongoing endorsement criteria.
