Long residence in the UK recognises the deep ties you may have in the country after to have stayed here for a long time. If you have been resident in the UK for ten years or more, you can apply for settled status. However, you must have been lawfully resident in the UK for the entirety of this period, which means you must not have breached any immigration rules. The rules around continuous lawful residence can be confusing, but our experienced team can advise you as to whether you are eligible.
Living in the UK for 10 years or more qualifies as long residence, and as a result, you may be able to apply for indefinite leave to remain. You can ‘complete’ your 10 years of residence under a combination of visas, but the rules are strict about what qualifies as continuous residence.
